Description
Two senior sweethearts, Sunshine and Buckeye, arrived in our care after a family tragedy. They were seen by a mobile vet who works closely with our positive reinforcement trainer, with whom they will stay until a foster placement is found. Sunshine has some chronic issues deserving some attention, including: an eye/ear infection, entropion, and deep skin infections around her paws, which is most likely due to her chronic allergies. She has a lump on her back that appears to be a cyst, which could have been caused by the skin infections; a sample was sent out for testing. On the other paw, Buckeye looks good overall. He does have an eye infection and a condition called strider, which is noisy breathing characterized by a high-pitched sound, typically occurring during inhalation. Buckeye only makes the sounds when he is hot or excited.

Greetings! Allow me to introduce myself - My name is Buckeye, and like my name, I truly believe in that Ohio State folklore that says I am believed to bring good luck to all that come in contact with me.
I haven't always felt this way. My sister, Sunshine, and I suddenly lost our owners and our only home through tragedy. Our luck changed when the wonderful folks at GRIN came to our rescue in our time of need. I feel especially grateful because I am a Labrador Retriever, not a Golden Retriever but they love me just the same!
I like a fine wine am aging beautifully. I am spunky, lively, and full of energy for a gentleman of my age. I am totally devoted to my sister, Sunshine. We have had a lot of sadness and confusion, but we are resilient and are now ready for our forever home
The following is a list of my many fine qualities
1. I am a total gentleman in the house. No potty accidents at all!
2. I love to go for walks and do a great job walking with my new harness (a gift from my friends at GRIN).
3. I am well past all those pesky puppy behaviors.
4. I am extremely loyal to my people and will love you to the ends of the earth.
5. I am Mr. Congeniality with both dogs and cats.
