GRIN tries to make every effort to keep this page current and up to date. Please keep in mind that by the time you submit an application and are going through the approval process, some of dogs pictured below may already be in the process of meeting and being adopted by other approved applicants.

The average ages of our rescued Goldens are 6-10 years of age, however GRIN does occasionally receive younger dogs that are in need of a home.  If you are interested in adopting a young dog, please do not wait until you see one on our website to apply for adoption.  Our approval process takes approximately 2-4 weeks to complete and by the time you have been approved for adoption, the younger dog will have already been placed into a loving home. Please start the application process now so that you can be on a waiting list for when GRIN does have younger dogs available.

Meet Misty, the sweetest soul you'll ever encounter. Her gentle nature and shy demeanor make her a calm companion, perfect for those seeking a peaceful pet. In her past life, Misty was a dedicated breeder momma, nurturing her pups with the same love and care she now seeks from a forever home. She is sweet, but is nervous and will need TLC to bloom. Misty deserves a loving home where she can continue to spread her gentle love. Adopt Misty, and let her soft heart warm yours.

Foster Update:3/25/25

Misty is a sweet girl.  Although small in size, she has a big heart. She loves to be with her foster siblings or her foster mom. She is adjusting easily to new people and new surroundings. She has made progress with potty training and is generally very reliable with pottying outside. She loves to run around the backyard with the other dogs and will come when called to go inside.

Misty will go in her crate when needed but is able to be left free to roam the house. She comes to the kitchen when called to eat. She does like to sleep on the dog bed, but much prefers sleeping on the people bed with her foster sisters.

Misty is very comfortable on car rides. When it is time to head out in the morning, she is excited and ready to go. She climbs in and settles on the seat, while her seatbelt is buckled.

Misty will need a companion dog to help her feel comfortable in her new home. She is great at following the crowd and counts on the other dogs to know what to do!

Foster Update: 2/4/25

Misty is such an easy dog to love!  She loves playing out in the snow!  She is learning to go for walks and loves them too!  She’s doing a fantastic job on her walks, not pulling or dragging behind, but keeping up the pace set by the pack.  Tho she can be timid about seeking out affection, she loves being loved on.  She knows what “Want some lovin’?” means.  She gets along well with other dogs; even strange dogs she’s met on walks.  Although she is initially hesitant around strangers, she gradually warms up to them, men as well as women.  She is not a fan of the crate, and her comfort spots seem to be the foster’s bed (where she snuggles up to sleep every night) and the ottoman next to the couch.  She has stuffed animal toys that she drags around the house with her.  She is still working on potty training.  Misty has free range of the house when her foster mom is gone short periods of time.  For longer periods of time, Misty is crated along with plenty of toys to keep her occupied.  Misty will make someone a devoted, affectionate, family pet.

Foster Update: 1/13/25

Misty was a puppy mill mama and has lived her life in a kennel producing puppies. She was retired and surrendered to GRIN because her tired body wasn’t producing enough milk to support her puppies. Misty was so frightened of her new surroundings that she pancaked on the floor and wouldn’t move, so additional staff at Westpark had to help get her into her foster family’s car. When the foster arrived home, she brought her former GRIN dog out to meet Misty and Misty willingly got out of the car & followed the resident dog to the backyard exploring the yard and home. She’s only been in foster care for a few days but with the help of the resident dog she has started to relax. She’s found her spot on the living room ottoman and is quickly learning better days are ahead. Misty needs a little time to heal from her spay surgery and get more comfortable living in a home, but she’ll be looking for her forever home soon.
