GRIN tries to make every effort to keep this page current and up to date. Please keep in mind that by the time you submit an application and are going through the approval process, some of dogs pictured below may already be in the process of meeting and being adopted by other approved applicants.

The average ages of our rescued Goldens are 6-10 years of age, however GRIN does occasionally receive younger dogs that are in need of a home.  If you are interested in adopting a young dog, please do not wait until you see one on our website to apply for adoption.  Our approval process takes approximately 2-4 weeks to complete and by the time you have been approved for adoption, the younger dog will have already been placed into a loving home. Please start the application process now so that you can be on a waiting list for when GRIN does have younger dogs available.

Sophie was originally a breeder gal.  Sadly, her adoptive owner could not longer care for her and she was returned to GRIN.  She is the sweetest and such a great girl!  She is great with all and waiting to find her forever loving home!

Foster Update: 4/15/25

Six-year-old Sophie has been settling in nicely with her foster family over the past two months.  After battling a couple of back-to-back UTI’s, we’re hoping Sophie gets the “all clear” later this week.

Sophie can be found with a ball or stuffed toy in her mouth almost constantly…even as she falls asleep.  Her tail wags constantly!  She loves to play fetch and occasionally a little tug with one of the resident goldens.  This sweetie is dog and cat friendly, great around children, house trained, food motivated, can be trusted to freely roam the house, and loves a nice walk.  However, while loving her toys, she’s not opposed to the occasional destruction of a stuffy (particularly if one of her foster sisters already started the process) or rooting through a garbage can if in her reach.  Sophie can be easily redirected if found to be getting into mischief.

Sophie loves a comfy spot on the couch but in full disclosure, also loves to cozy up in her foster parents’ bed at night.  She has grown quite attached to her foster mom and doesn’t let her out of sight.  She would do best with the companionship of another resident dog(s) but also someone who works from home.  She often seeks to be the center of attention, but Sophie has the typical sweet golden disposition.

Foster Update: 3/5/25

Sophie’s had a great two weeks so far with her foster family.  Lots of positive things to report!  This former mill mama is as sweet as can be and seems to have settled into her new surroundings easily.  Sophie is somewhat of a Velcro dog, but as she becomes more comfortable and secure in her forever home, perhaps she’ll be willing to give her parents some personal space!

She’s both dog and cat-friendly and has taken quite fondly to the resident golden girls.  Sophie recognizes her name, knows basic cues, is house trained, food motivated, and rides well in the car.  She absolutely loves toys, the squeakier, the better.  Most of the time she can be found carrying around a stuffed toy or ball, but she has the typical soft golden mouth.  There are no guarding issues with food or toys.

Sophie is currently on medication for a severe UTI and elevated liver enzymes.  She takes meds well, so paws crossed we see improvements with her follow-up appointment later this month.
